Pathophysiology: GI Disorders

The gastrointestinal (GI) tract, also referred to as the digestive tract, is necessary for digesting food and processing and producing many substances required for health. The term GI tract commonly refers to the hollow organs that extend from the mouth to the anus, including:
•    Esophagus
•    Stomach
•    Duodenum
•    Jejunum
•    Ileum
•    Colon
•    Rectum
•    Anus
The GI system also includes the accessory (secondary) organs of digestion: liver, gallbladder, and exocrine pancreas.

This course instructs medical coding professionals on the pathophysiology and manifestations of common GI disorders.
