Autism Specialization Credential
These courses provide foundational knowledge about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), behavioral concepts, social skill strategies, and best practices when transitioning adults into post-secondary options. Completion of these courses is required to earn the Autism Specialization Credential.
The Autism Specialization Credential was created to expand the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), delivery of vocational rehabilitation services to consumers with developmental disabilities.

This credential is offered for Division of Rehabilitation Services vendors who meet the following criteria:
CRP Providers
Community Rehabilitation Program (CRP) providers certified by the University of North Texas’s UNTWISE program can use the Autism Specialization Credential to:
- Conduct the Environmental Work Assessment (EWA)
- Provide autism spectrum disorder support
- Earn the Autism Service Premium when providing employment support services

ASD Support Providers
Autism spectrum disorder support providers can use the Autism Specialization Credential to provide the the following services to consumers with autism:
- Address and reduce targeted barriers to employment
- Provide services in the range between therapeutic services and job coaching
- Provide support when clinical intervention is not required and support falls outside of job coaching

Instructions
- Complete all courses associated with the Autism Specialization Credential.
- Receive your certificate of completion and submit it to UNTWISE.
- Upon certificate verification, UNTWISE will provide you with a final course that you will need to complete.
