IV Therapy
New law as of April 25th, 2017 that a LPN, not LPN-C, license is now necessary for IV therapy. All current LPNs must take an eight (8) hour didactic course covering the legal aspects of IV therapy, peripheral IVs and central lines to maintain LPN licensure in NE. Five years are allowed to meet this requirement. Additionally, if a nurse wishes to add IV therapy to current practice, in addition to the 8-hour didactic requirement, he/she must complete an approved employer-specific IV therapy skills course and maintain employer competency to do so.
