HH COPs, Survey Protocols and the Interpretive Guidelines

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, or CMS, has established minimum health and safety regulations that home health agencies, or HHAs, must comply with. The purpose is to allow HHAs to participate in federal healthcare programs and ensure the delivery of quality and safe healthcare. These regulations are called Conditions of Participation or COPs. Agencies that are Medicare-certified must comply with these CoPs. Surveys are conducted to find out if those agencies are in compliance. You play a role in the outcomes of those survey processes. In this course, you will learn about the home health CoPs. You will also learn about the survey process and your role in that process.

The goal of this course is to teach direct care workers in the home health setting how to help their agency comply with the CoPs.
