Non-Violent Crisis Intervention: Training the Trainers- Physical Interventions

This course will train those providing the training for non-violent crisis intervention. The content of this course will address how to use instructional materials and the implementation of competency assessments for techniques related to releases from physical holds, bites, hair pulls and other forms of attack that could be encountered while working with consumers of mental health, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, or other healthcare services. This course will promote the safe intervention and prevention of crisis situations in home, community, or residential settings with the goal of reducing the need for restraint, seclusion, or timeout. While the methods for intervening for specific situations should follow this instruction and the guidance of your organization’s policies, you, as the one training the trainers, should add specific content as it relates to the populations served by those who will eventually training staff. Methods and tips for training adult learners will be included in this course. You are also encouraged to use your experience and knowledge of the population and staff you work with to make the training meaningful and relevant to the needs of those whom you are training.
