Special Needs Patients in Dentistry
Special needs patients are adults and children who have physical, mental, psychological or emotional differences which create challenges for the individual in maintaining personal oral health and for the healthcare professional in providing preventative and restorative dental services. The number of disabilities and severity determine the total effect on the individual. Often, further deleterious effects on oral health are brought about by treatment for these conditions.
