Hepatitis A, B, and C, collectively referred to as viral hepatitis, are serious public health problems. An estimated 325 million people worldwide live with chronic viral hepatitis (World Health Organization, 2020).  Viral hepatitis does not usually produce symptoms until damage to the liver causes severe liver impairment. This means that the typical person with viral hepatitis may not appear sick. They often do not even know they are infected! This is why viral hepatitis is termed a silent epidemic. In this course, you will learn how the Hepatitis A, B, and C viruses spread and what measures you can take to prevent their spread.
