Learning Objectives:
Develop an appreciation for the diversity of systemic diseases which present with oral manifestations
Understand the oral problems which develop when chemotherapy is used to treat cancer
Recognize the short-term and long-term oral problems that develop after radiation therapy is used to treat oral-pharyngeal cancers
Become aware of the oral lesions which are caused by sexually transmitted diseases
Learn of the medications used in the treatment of various systemic diseases that may cause intraoral side effects
Identify oral problems which develop from psychiatric problems such as bulimia and anorexia nervosa
Review varied autoimmune diseases and their impact on oral health
Be aware oral complications can occur with conditions such as pregnancy and menopause.
