Subject Matter Expert: Amy L Blum, MHSA, RHIA
Amy is an SME/writer with the revenue cycle and coding team at Relias. She has over 30 years of medical coding experience, primarily as staff to the ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM Coordination and Maintenance Committee at the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), one of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She was the project officer for the development of the ICD-10-CM while at NCHS. She is a member of the American Health Information Management Association.
Subject Matter Expert: Cindy C. Smith, CPC, CPMA
Cindy is a Resolute Coding Manager at a large integrated managed care consortium and also trains new coders in the nuances of coding. In addition to those duties, she serves as a subject matter expert on coding issues for the company's Compliance Department. She has extensive knowledge in Specialty Coding as well as Surgical Coding nuances. She spent over 10 years’ experience as a Physician Auditor Educator assisting Providers in understanding the documentation required for the services provided as well as the diagnosis codes. Additionally, she spent over 5 years as an HCC Auditor in the early years of the HCC inception. Cindy served as an AAPC Local Chapter President for two years in Jacksonville, Florida.
