Cardiovascular System: Endovascular Revascularization Procedures

Endovascular revascularization is performed to restore bloodflow by removing an occlusion within a vessel, such as a buildup of plaque. Procedural techniques include angioplasty, stent placement, and atherectomy. Coding for endovascular revascularization follows a hierarchy of specific anatomy for designated territories. To properly code these complex procedures, coders must have a fundamental understanding of the cardiovascular anatomy and the affected vasculature in addition to the coding guidelines and instructions in the Cardiovascular System subsection within the Surgery section of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set. This  course will focus on identifying the appropriate code for endovascular revascularization procedures and services using case studies and scenarios. A current copy of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®), Professional Edition is strongly recommended to optimize your understanding of the content covered.
