Subject Matter Expert: Michael Seils, PT, DPT, EdD, MBA
Michael Seils currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo. His areas of expertise and certifications include APTA Board-Certified Geriatric Clinical Specialist (GCS), Advanced Competency in Home Health, and the National Stroke Association Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS). He earned his Bachelor of Health Science and clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Nazareth College in 2011 and 2013, respectively. In total, he has over 7 years of home healthcare experience as a staff therapist, preceptor, and supervisor. He was named HCR Home Care’s Therapist of the Year in 2015. At Rochester Regional Home Care, he was named Supervisor of the Year in 2018 and Leader of the Year in 2019. Michael obtained his Ed.D. in Executive Leadership at St. John Fisher College in 2021 and graduated with his MBA from Daemen University in May 2024. He has presented research and/or taught courses at local and national conferences including Combined Sections Meeting (CSM), Educational Leadership Conference (ELC), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Annual Meeting, NYPTA Special Student Interest Group (SSIG), Network in Aging of Western New York Meeting, and the Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) Rehab Symposium. His research and clinical interests are focused on leadership, interprofessional collaboration, geriatrics, home healthcare, and technology-enhanced learning.

Susan Almon-Matangos, MS, CCC-SLP, is a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist with over 30 years of experience. She obtained her bachelor's degree in psychology from Jacksonville State University and her Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology from The University of Alabama. She worked with clients of all ages and a variety of diagnostic conditions in school, hospital, skilled nursing facility, outpatient clinic, and home health settings. In her previous role as a national clinical director for Aegis Therapies, she created training programs for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology related to the clinical rehabilitation needs of older adults in post-acute care. She currently draws upon her expertise in her role at Relias as Lead Subject Matter Expert Writer for Speech-Language Pathology. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Pennsylvania Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
