About Falls

The act of falling is a common event among older adults. A fall is defined as losing the ability to remain upright and stable. Once a fall starts, the person comes to rest on the ground or floor. A successful fall prevention program reduces the number of falls and injuries from falls. This course discusses common risk factors that contribute to falls. It also discusses your role in fall prevention. Without fall prevention programs and knowing the risk factors that contribute to falls, older adults may suffer significant injuries and even death.
