Subject Matter Expert: Patricia Larkin-Upton, PT, DPT, MS, CWS, CEEAA, CCI.
Dr. Larkin-Upton graduated with her Master's Degree in Science and Physical Therapy in 1989 from Springfield College and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy with Distinction from Arcadia University in 2012. Her doctoral thesis was Limb Salvage in Medically Compromised Patients Using Short Wave Diathermy: A Case Report. She is a board-certified wound specialist through ABWM and currently works for Powerback Rehabilitation Services as a corporate Clinical Director, supporting the company nationally with clinical and regulatory practices, including skin and wound management. She has developed and presented many courses nationally on skin and wounds. Dr. Larkin-Upton is a member of multiple Physical Therapy and wound management organizations including APTA, APTA-NH as treasurer, Academy of Clinical Electrophysiology and Wound Management, the APTA Wound Management-SIG as vice chair, the American Board of Wound Management, and the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care. She has been a member of APTA and the WMSIG since 1996. Dr. Larkin-Upton has a passion for healing the whole person in wound management and is cognizant of the importance of the interdisciplinary team model.

Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in Biology, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Florida A&M University. She has more than 25 years of experience working as a Physical Therapist in multiple care settings, including acute care, inpatient rehab, independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, and outpatient orthopedics. Wendy has a strong manual therapy background and has completed additional training in McConnell taping, geriatric care, McKenzie MDT, Maitland Mobilizations for the joints and spine. She is most passionate about using her manual skills to improve mobility and reduce pain in individuals of all ages. As a Lead Physical Therapy writer for Relias, Wendy enjoys being able to combine her clinical knowledge with her interest in research and staying up-to-date with changes and advances in the field of rehabilitation.
