Interest has grown among patients regarding the role of cannabis in a variety of medical conditions, yet many healthcare providers feel uncomfortable making recommendations for its use. Due to federal regulations, cannabis prohibition, and the stigma associated with cannabis, there is a lack of education and/or awareness on the risks or benefits of medicinal cannabis. This course will provide members of the interprofessional team with a basic overview of the endocannabinoid system, the history of cannabis, the current indications and contraindications for using cannabis as medicine, and the legal considerations for its use.
