Jurisprudence for EMS in Texas

The jurisprudence exam determines the applicant’s knowledge of Chapter 773 of the Health and Safety Code and other applicable laws affecting the emergency medical services (EMS) personnel activities regulated by the EMS and Trauma Systems and the Texas Department of State Health Services (the department). This course will review minimum standards, access to records, criminal penalties, definitions as they are used in the Texas Administrative Code, certification requirements, disciplinary actions, continuing education, injury prevention, and functions of the offline medical director. Practice questions for the jurisprudence exam are written throughout the course. This program requirement was approved by the 84th Texas Legislative Session. The goal of this course is to provide EMS professionals in Texas education on jurisprudence relating to their profession.
